Separated and Divorced - New Beginnings Ministry

Separated and Divorced 08-26-2018

MINISTRY NAME: Separated and Divorced New Beginnings Ministry - DivorceCare

WHO DOES MINISTRY SERVE: Anyone who is going through a separation or has been divorced.

WHAT DOES MINISTRY DO: We are a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences.

THREE PRIMARY GOALS THE MINISTRY SEEKS TO ACHIEVE:

1. We do not want anyone to go through separation or divorce alone.

2. We want to give biblical support for those who are hurting because of separation or divorce.

3. We will help you learn how to heal from the deep hurt of divorce and discover hope for your future.

HOW DOES MINISTRY SEEK TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS:

Most people will tell you that separation and divorce are the most painful and stressful experiences they’ve ever faced. It’s a confusing time when you feel isolated and have lots of questions about issues you’ve never faced before. DivorceCare groups meet weekly during 14 weeks to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each session has two distinct elements: A Seminar with Experts During the first 30–40 minutes of the meeting, each DivorceCare group watches a video seminar featuring top experts on divorce and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting-to-watch television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies and on-location video. A Support Group with Focus After viewing the video, DivorceCare group participants spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in the lives of group members

RESPONSIBILITIES OF MINISTRY MEMBERS: The leadership team for DivorceCare consists of people who understand how you feel and have a real concern for individuals who are experiencing separation and divorce.

GIFTS/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS NEEDED BY MEMBERS TO SERVE IN MINISTRY: Many DivorceCare leaders have been through divorce themselves and are examples of the healing and restoration that can occur after the breakup of a marriage.

TIME COMMITMENT REQUIRED BY MEMBER TO SERVE: Two hours per week during 14 week open sessions.

WHEN DOES MINISTRY MEET: Thursdays from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

WHERE DOES MINISTRY MEET: Meeting Room 7 at the Parish House.
