Religious Education

At Our Lady of the Holy Rosary-St. Richard Catholic Church (HRSR), we are here to help you live the fullness of your Catholic faith with the Sacraments.

Using Loyola Press publications, we prepare children and adults to receive the Sacraments of Initiation, so that they can live the fullness of our Catholic faith in the Sacraments.

Our Religious Education program prepares students from 1st grade through 12th grade to receive First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

We aim to prepare our students to receive their Sacraments and continue to live their Catholic faith after they have received their Sacraments, and we host family events and groups that help to create an atmosphere of community among our families.

Students who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion must attend 2 consecutive years of classes, and those preparing for Confirmation must attend 3 consecutive years of classes.

Our classes run in tandem with the public-school year. Registration begins in June and classes begin in September. We observe many of the same breaks that public schools do, and we also break for Holy days.

Catholic Mass attendance is an obligation in our Religious Education program, and we encourage our students to participate at Mass, by lectoring, singing, presenting the gifts and greeting Parishioners.

We offer classes on Tuesday and Wednesday. Parents may choose either 4 pm until 5:15 pm, primarily for those students in 1st through 2nd grade, or 7 pm until 8:15 pm for students in all grade levels.

We publish a calendar of events in September, and parents are expected to make note of the dates and times that they will need to be present for meeting, rehearsals and Sacraments.

We host three parent meetings throughout the year and parent attendance is required. Similarly, attendance is required at all scheduled rehearsal and Sacraments.
