WHO DOES MINISTRY SERVE: Couples preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage.

WHAT DOES MINISTRY DO: The ministry meets with engaged couples to guide them and prepare them for the Sacrament of Marriage by exploring different topics through a workbook provided by the Archdiocese.


1. Prepare engaged couples through dialogue and conversation for the Sacrament of Marriage.

2. Help couples confirm their choice in partner in line with God’s will.

3. Provide mentorship through preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage.

HOW DOES MINISTRY SEEK TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS: The ministry seeks to achieve these goals by meeting with the couples face to face 4-5 times prior to their wedding date.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF MINISTRY MEMBERS: Read the premarital survey of the engaged couple, and then meet with them 4-5 times to go through the workbook topics and their survey. Mentor couple has to type a letter regarding the couple stating their compatibility etc. and submit it to the church prior to their wedding date.

GIFTS/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS NEEDED BY MEMBERS TO SERVE IN MINISTRY:Ministry members need to be married and in good standing with their spouse and the church. Ministry members should be active participants in their faith and church life.  

TIME COMMITMENT REQUIRED BY MEMBER TO SERVE: Ministry members have to meet 4-5 times (each time about 1-2 hours) with each couple over the course of a few months.

WHEN DOES MINISTRY MEET:  Mentor couples meet with the engaged couples as it works with their schedule.

WHERE DOES MINISTRY MEET: The ministry members meet sometimes at the Mentor couples’ home, or a coffee shop etc. It is at the Mentor couples’ discretion.

TRAINING OR OTHER SUPPORT PROVIDED TO MEMBERS: Fully engaged training, new mentor couples are also trained by other mentor couples.
