MINISTRY NAME: CUB SCOUTS
WHO DOES MINISTRY SERVE: Boys in grades 1-5
WHAT DOES MINISTRY DO: Teaches boys important life skills and helps prepare them for Boy Scouts
THE PRIMARY GOALS THE MINISTRY SEEKS TO ACHIEVE:
1. Teach the boys about doing their duty to God
2. Teach the boys about doing their duty to Country
3. Teach the boys about helping other people
HOW DOES MINISTRY SEEK TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS: Each grade level has a series of "adventures" that focus on different aspects of the Scout Law and Oath. We have weekly meetings to discuss and work on the adventures. We also have camping trips where boys practice their skills and have fun with their families and friends. Last, the boys do service projects such as a canned food drive at Thanksgiving, cleaning the HRSR School grounds during the Cross-Country Meet held at the school, and cleaning up beaches around Biscayne Bay.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF MINISTRY MEMBERS: Mentor the boys in completing the adventures
GIFTS/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS NEEDED BY MEMBERS TO SERVE IN MINISTRY: Willingness to help and
patience
TIME COMMITMENT REQUIRED BY MEMBER TO SERVE: 3-5 hours per week

WHERE DOES MINISTRY MEET: HRSR School
TRAINING OR OTHER SUPPORT PROVIDED TO MEMBERS: In addition to Virtus Training and other requirements of Archdiocese of Miami pertaining to ministry to youth, all leaders are required to complete Boy Scout Youth Protection training. There are other training sessions covering specific areas offered (camping safety, for example).
